Russian will begin sea trials new generation nuclear powered submarine


ARKHANGELSK (BNS): Russian shipyard Sevmash will begin sea trials for the three new generation nuclear powered submarine, which are under construction at the shipyard in Severodvinsk, a media report said. 

The sea trials will begin with the submarine of the Northwind, Yuri Dolgoruky , Borei class submarine Alexander Nevsky and promising multipurpose nuclear submarine of project 885 (type Ash) - Severodvinsk.
In September 2010, submarine Yuri Dolgoruky has completed a programme of factory sea trials. The submarine will conduct the first launch of the main weapon system Bulava missile by mid- summer 2011.

The fourth generation Borei class submarine Alexander Nevskiy is expected to be commissioned in December 2011 in the Russian Pacific Fleet.

The multi-purpose submarine 4th generation Project 885 ("Ash"), Severodvinsk is designed by Maritime Bureau Engineering "Malachite" in St. Petersburg was launched on June 15, 2010.

According to the Navy command, the Severodvinsk will join the Russian Navy in 2011.
