The French ADIT think tank reports that country's navy has transferred the landing craft “Sabre” (L9051) to the Senegal Navy within the framework of a cooperation agreement. The French navy has operated two of these tank and infantry landing craft. Details are sketchy but the Sabre was launched in March 1987 and commissioned in June that year. It has an overall length of 60 metres and a beam of 11.9 metres.
The authoritative International Institute for Strategic Studies credits Senegal with a navy mustering some 950 personnel crewing 10 patrol and coastal combatants and up to now, two Edic 700 landing craft.
